Hagerich, a Pennsylvania dad, was caught with 20 rounds in his baggage in February, authorities have said.
He was facing a possible 12-year sentence but received a 52-month suspended sentence and a fine instead, according to the report. A judge found "exceptional circumstances" in Hagerich's case and said the statutory minimum sentence was "unjust and disproportionate to the crime committed," 6abc wrote.
Hagerich reportedly told ABC the ammo was for hunting and he forgot it was in his bag when he departed for Turks and Caicos.
His LinkedIn page shows he is a healthcare executive from Somerset, and previously worked at Golden Living in Phoenixville.
On Facebook, Hagerich's wife, Ashley, called the situation a "nightmare," and urged supporters to reach out to Pennsylvania lawmakers in a push to free her husband.
He's one of three Americans recently arrested in British territory for bringing along bullets.
Tyler Wenrich, a 31-year-old EMT from Virginia, was found with ammunition after arriving in Grand Turk on a cruise ship in April, and Ryan Watson, a 40-year-old dad from Oklahoma, was arrested days earlier upon the discovery of hunting ammunition in his carry-on, Daily Voice reported.
A GoFundMe page started for the "wrongful detention" of the three men had raised more than $230,000 as of press time.
